How We Collect Resource Data

The CVAA Community Resources Database contains information about available community resources for people over 60 in the Champlain Valley region of Vermont - Addison, Chittenden, Franklin and Grand Isle counties. The Database currently contains over 450 agencies, with more than 800 programs and 1,600 services.

CVAA staff members use their contacts at service provider networks statewide to learn about organizations providing services to seniors in Vermont.

In order to provide the most accurate and reliable information, we:

  • Collect data about programs and services using written survey forms.
  • Ensure the continued accuracy of the information in our database by resurveying all agencies annualy.
  • Continuously update program data as we learn about changes and new services - either from the agency directly or indirectly from feedback from our callers.

CVAA uses the Alliance of Information & Referral Systems (www.airs.org) approved Taxonomy of Human Services, a standard indexing system used by human service information and referral systems throughout the United States.
