Local Volunteer Named as Patriots Community MVP CVAA Volunteer Recognized for His Work
The New England Patriots honored more than twenty community MVPs from throughout New England for their commitment to improving their communities through volunteerism including Ted Beaudoin, the Milton Meals on Wheels Coordinator for the Champlain Valley Agency on Aging. At a ceremony in the Fidelity Investments Clubhouse at Gillette Stadium, Patriots owner Robert Kraft presented checks totaling $50,000 to benefit the respective charities of this year’s honorees. The Champlain Valley Agency on Aging received $3,500 from the Patriots Charitable Foundation.
“This is an opportunity for us to honor those who give of their time and themselves in the spirit of helping others,” said Rena Clark, Vice President of Community Affairs. Robert Kraft remarked that giving money to the deserving nonprofits was the “most fun they have besides what goes on at the stadium on Sundays (game day).”
Beaudoin is the Volunteer Coordinator for the Meals on Wheels Program in Milton where he recruits, trains, and supervises 25 volunteers to deliver meals to seniors. Last year over 5,000 MOW were delivered in Milton. He believes that “volunteering is very gratifying when you do something worthwhile for someone in need. When we deliver meals to people that may not have any other visitors that day, we can check to make sure they are all right. Who knows, my wife or myself may require these services in the future.”
Bev Hill, Volunteer Coordinator for CVAA emphatically stated that “volunteers like Ted keeps the Meals on Wheels on the road. We couldn’t do it without volunteers. We’re thrilled that the NE Patriots chose to recognize him.” Beaudoin was the only Vermont recipient of the New England Patriots MVP award.
