Champlain Valley Agency on Aging To Host Mayors For Meals Day on March 19, 2008

Burlington, VT – The Champlain Valley Agency on Aging (CVAA) announced today that they will be holding Mayors For Meals Day as a part of their March For Meals campaign. Mayors in the Champlain Valley including Burlington Mayor Bob Kiss, Winooski Mayor Michael O’Brien, St. Albans Mayor Martin Manahan, and Vergennes Mayor Mike Daniels will join 742 mayors across the United States delivering Meals on Wheels to show their support for seniors in the Champlain Valley.

“We are excited about having the mayors participate in Mayors For Meals Day. We hope to raise awareness of senior hunger in our community,” said (John Barbour, CVAA Executive Director). March For Meals is a national campaign to raise awareness of senior hunger, and to encourage action on the part of the local community. Senior nutrition programs across the United States promote March For Meals in their local communities through public events, partnerships with local businesses, volunteer recruitment and fundraising initiatives. Mayors For Meals Day is a component of March For Meals that utilizes the involvement of local Mayors.
