Champlain Valley Agency on Aging Brings Fat Tuesday to Vermont
Essex Jct, VT- The Champlain Valley Agency on Aging held a Mardi Gras Celebration for local seniors.Corwin (Bill) Gerrard and Janice Cheney of Starr Farm Nursing Home were crowned King and Queen.
According to Pat Pike ,CVAA Community Mealsite Coordinator, the mardi gras celebration held at the Elk's Lodge has become an annual event . According to Pike,"many people have NEVER been to mardi gras so I thought it would be fun to bring it to them, the decorations, the beads, and moon pies along with the fabulous jazz of the fantastic "Dixie Six"really give you the feeling that you are in the south.
Watching people get up and get in the congo line to the tune of "When the Saints Come Marching In" is truly inspirational to me,it reminds me that no matter what age you are you can still enjoy a wonderful party."
