Racers Raise Over $20,000 to End Senior Hunger
Champlain Valley Agency on Aging’s March for Meals Campaign

Burlington, VT- The 3rd Annual Driving Force Endurance Karting Race raised over $20,000 to support the Champlain Valley Agency on Aging’s senior nutrition programs. This year the Driving Force Endurance Karting Race raised enough money to buy 4,055 meals for seniors in the Champlain Valley.

Last year CVAA served over 178,000 Meals on Wheels in Chittenden, Addison, Franklin, and Grand Isle counties. ACT driver and Driving Force Coordinator, Brian Hoar, of Williston, is “very excited with how much support we received from not only the participants but more importantly all the people and businesses that donated money for all the seniors in our community. The event was not only a huge success in terms of the money and awareness we raised but also the fun factor went through the roof. I’m more than ready after that event to get back to racing this summer.”

Fifteen teams competed in this three-hour endurance karting race held at Grand Prix Karting, an indoor karting facility just outside Montreal. Teams of 3 to 5 people competed in this race against hunger. A number of teams were made up with professional racecar drivers and crews. Each team raised over $750 to support Meals on Wheels. For the third year the BullsEye Team took home the top spot. Bullseye is made up of Jay Webb, of Milton; Keith Williams of Milton and Jeremy Smail of Essex Jct. Team Goss Dodge headed up by Brian Hoar took second place followed by the Kart Stars lead by Bobby Therrien, of Hinesburg. This event could not have taken place without the generous support of our sponsors: Goss Dodge, PawPrint & Mail, and Maplefields.

The Meals on Wheels Program relies on the generous support of the community to provide hot nutritious meals to seniors. Each meal is delivered by volunteers across the Champlain Valley.
