Internship Opportunities
CVAA is pleased to offer internship opportunities for people who want to explore the social services field, obtain experience working with seniors, develop career skills, and meet internship or field experience requirements. We make every effort to tailor our internships to the needs of CVAA and the interests of the intern. All internships are unpaid and have a flexible weekday schedule. Development Intern
Primary responsibilities
- Create and participate in fund raising events
- Assist the agency to remain known in the community
- Present a positive public image
Human Resources Intern
Primary responsibility
To update CVAA job descriptions, ensuring they are current, and in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other legal requirements
Project Snow Shovel Volunteer Management Intern
Primary responsibilities
- Recruit volunteers to provide service to seniors, with a particular focus on recruiting volunteers to shovel snow for seniors
- Manage volunteers. Activities will include interviewing and screening volunteers, matching clients with seniors, and ongoing supervision and documentation
Quality Assurance Intern (Summer Semester only)
Primary responsibilities
- Work with Volunteer Coordinator to evaluate Friendly Visitor Volunteer program, which currently has approximately 150 volunteers
- Administer client satisfaction survey to gauge senior satisfaction with volunteer assistance and request feedback
- Compile and present results from the client satisfaction survey
Social Networking Intern
Primary responsibilities
- Work with Volunteer Coordinator to utilize social networking resources to benefit CVAA by recruiting new volunteers, communicating with current volunteers, publicizing programs and events, etc.
- Build partnerships with schools, religious groups, senior centers, and community organizations to enhance services for seniors
State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) Intern
Primary responsibility
To provide health insurance counseling and assistance to Medicare beneficiaries seeking help in choosing and/or enrolling in Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan
Volunteer Management Intern
Primary responsibilities
- Work with Volunteer Coordinator to administer Volunteer Program, which currently has over 1000 volunteers
- Recruit volunteers to provide service to seniors. Activities may include writing press releases, speaking with community members and groups, collaboration with organizations and businesses, and other methods at the discretion of intern and volunteer coordinator
- Manage volunteers. Activities will include interviewing and screening volunteers, matching clients with seniors, and ongoing supervision and documentation
